The new Health Professionals EBA has now been approved by the Fair Work Commission and will commence operation on Wednesday 5 June 2019. The agreement received strong support from staff with 42.1% of staff casting a ballot, with a 91.8% ‘YES’ vote from those staff.
ACT Health had already committed to commence paying the new pay rates as of Thursday 30 May 2019 and back-pay on Thursday 13 June 2019. All other conditions of the new EBA, including professional development support and new flexible working arrangements will now come into force on Wednesday 5 June.
What comes next?
Securing our new agreement closes the door on a tough period of negotiation. However, securing a new EBA is just the first step.
The real work will be in ensuring our new conditions are properly followed in the workplace. We will continue to work with members to make sure the issues impacting you are addressed, and the voice of our professional members are elevated to the ultimate decision makers.
If you have colleagues who have been wondering why it’s important to join their union, this EBA outcome shows why acting collectively in union is so important. Together we can achieve good outcomes. Please share with your colleagues and encourage them to join.
